Net Magnus - Dynamic-Resource-Pool™ (DRP)
Software testing is on the critical path of any software development program and impacts on a spectrum of business issues including cost, time to deployment, user acceptance, revenue and brand reputation to name but a few.
To help tackle these business issues, Net Magnus has devised an operations and resource model designed to de-risk projects, apply the best expertise consistently and at an optimal cost. This Net Magnus service is called a ‘Dynamic Resource Pool ™’ (DRP). DRP has been designed to eliminate potential issues with outsourcing whilst at the same time improving testing breadth, depth and granularity.
DRP is a method of assigning to each project 20% extra resource capacity without passing on this overhead to our customer’s.
These additional resources allocated to a Net Magnus Testing Team are there to maintain capacity and seamlessly solve the challenge of contingency planning. Moreover, these resources or not in stand-by mode, but are actively productive. As they are always up to speed with the projects there is no ‘expertise lag’ as resources change, thereby eliminating the risk of slowing up progress.
DRP also enables well planned resource rotation on long term projects which is important in order to keep teams fresh, maintain momentum and to bring in new ideas. DRP again solves this requirement.
The features and benefits of DRP to customers are as follows:
- 20% extra capacity at no additional charge
- Additional resource means that testing activity can go deeper, broader and gain from an increase in granularity, all contributing to a best in class service
- Peer to peer review process whereby individuals within the testing team review each others work resulting in the highest quality of testing services
- Extra capacity to perform further gap analysis
- Deadlines not put at risk due to a time lag caused by staff attrition
- No drop in expertise levels if there are changes to the team
- The scope to rotate staff on long term projects to assist with maintaining a fresh momentum and to introduce new ideas etc.
Net Magnus operates a highly effective cost base which means that it is able to offer all customers the Dynamic Resource Pool facility. Competitive testing companies with less focused resources and optimised cost bases are unable to fund this level of water-tight resourcing service.
